Is it in the wing pattern of the moth(?) on the purple flower along the bottom right edge? If compressed, the wing looks like a skull from a cabinet of curiosities or an antiquated anatomy illustration.
You nailed it, the moth wing. Its skewed, a bit like the Hans Holbein painting The Ambassadors.
